Another tough day for the Panther reserves. A few late Friday withdrawals from the seniors and reserves meant we were left with only one on the bench, an unfortunately common scenario this season. An update on the number of players used in the reserves this season sees the total at 79, an extraordinarily high number which reflects our injuries and unavailabilities.
Whilst we were comprehensively beaten by a bigger, fitter and more experienced line-up, we again carried our heads high as we have done all year. The group continues to be resilient and pre-game we touched on a few reasons of why we play footy. Mateship, the challenge/competition and an underlying love of football brings us together each Saturday. It's been a tough few seasons for the reserves, but the core group are a strong bunch and it will not be long before this group sings the song again.
Highlights again included Mazz down back, assisted well in the air by James Wagner and Henry McQueen. With the quantity of inside 50s we've given up, the back six has been resolute and continues to compete well. It was also great to see Chris Hill back in the jumper for his first game of the year after numerous injury complications.
We look forward to taking on Collegains this week, with a few points to work on and build upon again.
