Round 13 saw us come against local rivals Old Trinity. The reserves have had some challenging weeks recently with an extensive injury list and many of the group travelling, and this week was no different. We did manage to get 22 players together, but with a late withdrawal from the seniors, an injury from the warm-up and two early new injuries, we were down to zero rotations by the second quarter.
This did not dampen the spirits of the group however, and I am immensely proud of the way they continued to play out the game with effort and intensity. This has been a hallmark of the reserves this year. Under incredible adversity and pressure, the playing group has remained steadfast and strong and has not thrown the towel in.
We have four games left and with some key personnel returning from injury and travel, I have strong belief that the last month of the season can show some positive results.
There were some key players that led the way on Saturday, namely Mazz down back, Cal Cameron all over the ground, Fridge Lisle in the ruck and Scott Virtue with his run and carry.
I know the group will stick together and continue to push for what is left in the season.
