Not even the fact that we had no change room could distract our team from the job at hand. Nor the delayed start whilst our opponents were still mustering a team and the resulting reshuffle of our team board. Testament to the maturity of our team we went hard from the first bounce and played four excellent quarters of footy.
We kicked 3 goals per quarter and held the opposition to one solitary major. Our mids dominated, the backs were impenetrable and it was party time up forward. Our ball use was the best for the season. Linking up with multiple possessions and finishing with goals is a great achievement. No doubt we have improved our vision and decision making and we are fast becoming the best shepherding team in the completion.
Some decision making lacked a little prowess with a great clearing kick out of the middle right to the hot spot, just a pity we kicked it the wrong way! And another interesting take on the rules with our champion full back kicking the ball clear of hand and foot from a free kick on the wing for out of bounds on the full! Each game we learn something new.
We have three games to play and are focused on maintaining our improvement. Finals are on offer if we can go up another level. An exciting and challenging prospect indeed.
Thanks to our amazing fill in Team manager Nicky and her merry band of volunteers: Morgy’s Troy ran the water, Lucy’s sister Sarah worked the boundary, Bella delivered the messages and Matilda’s step dad Corey waved the flags.
