Women's v Old Camberwell
Round Number 7, Saturday, 27 May 2017
- Opponent: Old Camberwell

Q1 Q2 Q3 Final Score Us 0.2 0.3 0.6 2.6.18 Them 2.3 4.10 5.13 7.15.57
Camberwell are the leading side in our division and for good reason. They are a strong corridor team with long kicks and good marking judgement and skills.
We came out hard and really pressed in the first quarter. In what is becoming a disconcerting trend we held the ball consistently in our forward line without being able to hit the scoreboard. Only for the opposition to clear our 50 and sweep the ball down the field for a goal.
We need a team motto something along the line of “The only time the ball comes out of our forward line is when the boundary umpire is carrying it back to the field umpire to bounce it in the centre” Ok we may need to make the motto a little more concise but you get the picture!
Our strengths at this stage of the season is winning the ball on the ground. In and around packs we are hard to beat. So we need to play to our strength on match day and continue to work hard on our kicking skills at training. We handball well and tackle hard. We are fit, strong and determined. And this makes us hard to play against!
Ironically the pushing off we practiced during the week got us into a bit of trouble with the umpire, we need to fine tune that a little during the week. Again, good endeavor though!
We maintained our work rate all day and were rewarded with two late goals but Camberwell were deserved winners. But we have lots of upside. We are already looking forward to playing these sides that have beaten us again.
