After a great 2015 season for the Unders we were keen to get off to a good start for 2016 after a tremendous pre-season. Round 1 saw us host Old Trinity at home in front of what turned out to be a decent crowd.
The 1st quarter saw us waste numerous good chances heading up forward early and we found ourselves trailing after conceding 2 late goals 1.1-7 to 2.3-15. We wrestled back the momentum in the 2nd quarter kicking 3 quick goals to O T's 1, although our kicking at goal was still off with 4 behinds in the quarter.
The 3rd quarter again saw us hold OT to 1 goal, while we were only able to kick 2 goals ourselves we dominated the quarter with fast ball use and spread. The final quarter saw our superior fitness and leg speed take over as we kicked 6 goals to 1 to finish the game off well.
In closing I'd like to thank all my helpers on the day along with all the parents, brothers and sisters, and girlfriends of the players that came to watch the game. I know that running out in front of all of you made it even more exciting for all the boys and I hope you can all make it to the rest of the games!
