Trainee Insurance Advisor (2 vacancies)

The financial services industry has undergone some reform recently due to backlash from some poor behaviour and advice mostly by bank aligned advisors (you may have seen a major investigation into the CBA on Four Corners). As a result of this in order to become an accredited life insurance broker after January 1st 2019 you will need to be degree qualified (3 yr uni course).

Needless to say it is going to be a lot harder for us to employ new brokers into this great industry after January 1st.

Here at Lakeside we run our own financial services license which (at the moment) gives us more flexibility that some of the larger licensees.

Between now and January 1st 2019 we can still license a new broker and then between Jan 1st 2019 and Jan 1st 2024 keep them on an ongoing education program that will allow them to stay licensed and give advice.

So what am I saying? This is a great industry and our business now has a great track record of giving people a “foot in the door” opportunity that turns into a rewarding career – but the window in which we have to make this happen is now closing.

So….if you have a friend, niece, nephew, neighbour etc who hasn’t quite found their place in the world yet but they have a “can do attitude” then you may consider letting them know of this opportunity.

The role is supporting a team of 6 insurance brokers in preparing written advice, product research, compliance and client servicing. The role is also designed as an on the job training role to advance the individuals career towards becoming a broker themselves by building strong business development skills along the way. I filled this role myself 14 years ago.

This is a growing and rewarding industry that is all about interacting with people and the door is still ad jar for new entrants….but not for long.

Lakeside has over 40 staff now and provides financial services to small businesses and individuals across Life Insurance, Accounting, Legal (Wills and Estate Planning), Financial Planning and Lending.

We have recently made a significant acquisition of an Accounting Practice in South Yarra and have also set up an office in Launceston to service two business that we acquired there – so we are growing and it is an exciting time to join the business.

Please pass my details onto any one that you feel may be appropriate.

Kind Regards,

Andrew Kent
